Editorial Board Responsibilities
The Editorial Board of the journal comprises a distinguished group of academics and specialists in scientific disciplines relevant to the journal’s scope. It is headed by the Editor-in-Chief, who assumes ultimate responsibility for determining whether submitted manuscripts fall within the journal’s scope and editorial policies, and for making the initial decision regarding their acceptance or rejection.
The Editorial Board is committed to implementing the policies and regulations adopted by the Libyan Geographical Society, as the official publisher of the journal, and to adhering to international standards of scholarly publishing, as well as national regulations relating to copyright, intellectual property rights, and research ethics.
The responsibilities of the Editorial Board include conducting an initial screening of submitted manuscripts to assess their originality, scientific value, compliance with the journal’s scope, and adherence to its publication guidelines, prior to assigning them to qualified reviewers selected according to criteria of expertise, specialization, and impartiality. The Board is also committed to maintaining the confidentiality of authors’ and reviewers’ identities, ensuring integrity and objectivity throughout the peer-review process, and basing editorial decisions on reviewers’ reports in accordance with the journal’s policies and established procedures.
The Editorial Board is also responsible for verifying the originality of submitted manuscripts through the use of reliable tools and software for detecting plagiarism and textual similarity. No manuscript that is found to violate established standards of research integrity, academic honesty, or publication ethics shall proceed to publication.
Members of the Editorial Board are required to disclose any potential conflict of interest, whether financial, personal, institutional, or academic, and to refrain from participating in the evaluation or decision-making process concerning any manuscript in which such a conflict may arise.
The Editorial Board is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of unpublished manuscripts and materials submitted to the journal and shall not use, disclose, or circulate their contents in any form without the explicit permission of the authors, in accordance with applicable ethical and legal standards.
The Board also maintains effective and professional communication with authors throughout the various stages of submission, peer review, revision, and editorial processing. Authors are informed of relevant decisions and comments in a timely manner, thereby contributing to the transparency of the editorial process and enhancing the quality of the research published by the journal.
